Few highways in the world are as spectacular as the Icefields Parkway that runs between Jasper and Lake Louise through Jasper and Banff National Parks. The highway follows the Rockies, crossing through several mountain passes, and skirting many glaciers, lakes and abundant wildlife. As services are rare, especially in winter, it is essential to fill the gas tank before starting out and make sure your vehicle is in good shape. The paved road, however, is very good, despite the constant elevation changes. Many hardy cyclists enjoy the challenge of this grueling 230-km route.
