Canola Field, Simcoe County, Ontario
Digital Photo by Richard McGuire
North of the sprawling metropolis of Toronto, there is an extensive area of farmland. Most farms are much smaller than the large grain and cattle farms of Western Canada, but many have dairy cattle and other livestock, or crops such as corn. Canola, a variety of rapeseed used to make cooking oil, is more common in Ontario than it once was. It gives the fields a bright yellow.
